The dirty, not so secret anymore, fact of our U.S. Congress is that it is now for alot of them a stepping stone to a vastly more lucrative career starting out around $350,000 per year as a consultant for a lobbyist. What this means of course is, that if a Congressperson votes for the people, instead of the special interest lobbyist who may hire them after leaving office, their lobbyist or consultant career will never get off the ground. And that is precisely why our Congress is so divided and torn over issues which are not debatable or arguable at all for American voters, like securing our borders.
The Brass Monkey thinks perhaps it is time for a brand new political party. The Populist (not like the party of that name formed in 1891 to advocate currency expansion and state control of railroads) but one that plain and simply would be for the voters and would tell lobbyists to not let the door hit them in the ass on the way out.
To be fair not all congresspersons do this but close to 50% of those retiring do.

With the ratings of our Congress even lower then Dictator Bush’s (both are almost in the pooper) a quote from President Theodore Roosevelt made in the year 1919 perhaps has more meaning now then it did then.
“In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American.
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile…We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
The Brass Monkey would deduce that this was meant for Legal Immigrants and not Illegal Aliens who should in our opinion be shipped out, and the employers of these aliens jailed and fined.

The “Earnings Suspense File” (ESF), used by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to track names and Social Security numbers that do not match government records, almost doubled during the five most recent years tracked to $585 billion, potentially making millions of today’s illegal workers eligible for billions of dollars in benefits under an immigration amnesty plan.
Since we know that Social Security is forecast to go bankrupt by the year 2040. The Brass Monkey finds it unfathomable that our government would willingly bankrupt the system even sooner by giving billions of dollars to people who broke the laws of the United States, our seniors and future retirees deserve to know that the promises made to them by their public representatives will, indeed, be kept.
From 1937-1999 (a 63-year period), the ESF accumulated a total of $301.8 billion. It almost doubled, however, from 2000-2004 (the most recent years for which data is available) to $585 billion, largely a result of minimal workplace enforcement efforts. Dictator Bush was in power from

Duh, The Brass Monkey urges you to ask your representives in Washington to make sure if the present immigration legislation passes it to make sure that the enforcement and border security part of the legislation is going to be actually put into effect and not just put in there with no intention of enforcing it. The Brass Monkey is vary wary of the interior enforcement and border security part of this legeslation because Dictator Bush and his cronies are well known to not enforce laws that he does not like.
Please vote in our poll. Do you think President Bush has sold out our country?
