Add-ons cause 70% Of IE8 Crashes

This comes as no surprise as most add-ons are written by third parties and considering the number of add-ons out there especially those for Firefox (the king of add-ons) which has a huge number to choose from that some would cause problems. Problems like slowing the browser and crashing the browser. If you run a ton of add-ons it is easy to see them causing the browser to slow down after all it has to load those add-ons. I would think that in the case of crashes, sloppy or poorly written code would be the culprit. It´s great to hear that only about 30% of IE8 crashes are caused by the browser it self. Add-ons responsible for 70 percent of IE8 crashes

Personally I think that the majority of IE users are not that much into add-ons. You find the add-on folks are much more likely to be using Firefox and Chrome, which not long ago had add-on capability move from the Dev channel into the regular version of Chrome. Plus there is a lack of third-party interest in IE8 development, because the browser is hated by so many Web developers and is harder to code for, there are very few add-ons being created for it.

Opera takes an entirely different approach. Add-ons designed for it install as a separate program on your hard drive.
