Afghanistan War: Yes? No?
The Brass Monkey Blog . Net does not do to many stories on either the war in Iraq or Afghanistan however it was thought that because of the nature of discussions going on in DC now and the recommendations for more troops (if we are going to win) by General McChrystal that some thoughts had on the subject should be mentioned.
Thought: We would not be where we are now in the war in Afghanistan if that ego maniac Bush had concentrated on it instead of doing the most stupid thing in recent memory, attacking Iraq. For what? There were no WMD found there and no Al Qaeda when we went in. But nooooooo he had to attack Iraq. The only folks that that benefited in the US were people like the crooks that run Halliburton. It helped put the national deficit out of control and stretched our military thin.
Just think if we had put all of the troops that went to Iraq into Afghanistan. The Taliban would not be back like they are now. There are some that say we should negotiate with them. Negotiate with people that throw acid into school girls faces just because they went to school. Hell no, they should all be put on trial for crimes against humanity or killed. You can bet if the Taliban take back control of Afghanistan there will be mass murders of a lot of people there and Al Qaeda will be back in full force free to plot terror attacks on the west.
For some time now the US has been trying to get Pakistan to fight the Taliban holed up in the north west border region of that country. They resisted and even made deals with the Taliban. It was not until the Taliban started there own little war there and tried to take over a lot of Pakistan’s territory that Pakistan finally had enough and launched attacks on them which are still going on. The point being Pakistan tried to make deals with the Taliban and the deals quickly fell apart. We should not even think of trying to deal with these low life murdering scumbags.
Final thought: We tried along time to try and get the help of Pakistan in fighting the Taliban. For what ever reason they are finally doing it. Now is not the time for us to back off in Afghanistan, it is time to send the troops in and get rid of these scumbags once and for all. What kind of message would it sent to Pakistan if we slacked off now? As much as most of us dislike sending in more troops, at this point in time it is probably the best thing to do.
Looking at the situation now in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, trying to make deals with the Taliban or not giving General McChrystal the troops he needs would sound like a plan that that bozo Nancy Pelosi would dream up.
