Amazon others Hit
Yesterdays outage was the result of a DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack. So I guess strictly speaking they were not hacked but merely hit by a bot-net. Amazon was not the only one either.
Twitter users of Amazon’s S3 service for Web hosting reported outages as well, and customers of Salesforce.com and Walmart.com were also reporting problems on Twitter. Reports also began to circulate that UltraDNS, the DNS provider for several West Coast Internet companies, was having serious problems also. There also was a report of a severe latency and packet loss problem on a connection between Qwest and Savvis.
