Google Chrome 9 Coming Soon

0

ChromeGoogle´s browser Chrome 9 will be out of beta and released to the public within a couple of weeks.

The crash rate of the browser has been cut to around 300 for every million page loads so Google is completing the final touches. Chrome version 9 restores the Flash sandbox and Google claims that WebGL acceleration has been improved under Windows XP. What is interesting is the fact that Google claims faster performance on Windows XP. Yes that is right, Google Chrome 9 will support XP. This is exactly the opposite of Microsoft´s IE 9 which is also in beta now, which will not even run under Windows XP.

XP still holds a large market share of computers using Windows so it might be a big mistake for Microsoft because IE has been losing market share for sometime now to Firefox and Chrome. Chrome and Safari seem to be gaining ground at this time while Firefox´s market share is staying about the same.

If you are running and for the present perfectly happy with XP for the time being what will you do? Buy a new operating system (Win 7) and go through the major hassle of the change over (no easy way to update from XP to 7) but still want a new browser. Well I still use XP and for the time being will not be spending the bucks for Win 7 and as I already use Chrome a lot, you can guess the route I will be going.

PS: Beings as I maintain several web sites I have IE 8, Firefox and Chrome on my box so it can be seen if the various sites work in all 3. Yeah, it is a big pain in the bum but necessary at this time.
