Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is mobilizing members of the California National Guard as part of a federal effort to deter drug trafficking and illegal immigration along the border with Mexico.

His order today supports President Barack Obama’s plan to have 1,200 National Guard troops support federal border protection, customs and immigration agents.

This is the second time that the Governor ordered troops to California´s southern border. The last time was in 2008, pretty much for the same reason.

We think that they should never have left. The border with Mexico should be locked down.
