HackersSpanish authorities announced that they have arrested three dudes that allegedly ran one of the worlds largest botnets. What makes this really interesting is the fact that none of them were hackers. That´s right folks, it seems they subbed out the hacking part. The botnet name was Mariposa, translated to English means Butterfly which was a worm. USB drives, MSN Messenger, and peer-to-peer programs, Windows XP and older systems were the targets.

This worm stole credit card numbers and online banking records from over Twelve and a half million infected computers. Some of the infected boxes where in Fortune 1,000 companies of which about 500 got hit. Forty banks were also hacked. For more and the FBI´s involvement see this article in The Register
