The Parallels between the oil spill and immigration policy are both interesting and informative.
Both were caused because government was/is not taking care of it´s business and enforcing laws and regulations. In both cases innocents were/are being hurt. In both cases the solution is to first plug the hole and then clean up the mess.

Government did not enforce the Minerals Management Service regulations for oil drilling. Government is not enforcing the immigration law — except for Arizona. The damage to the ecology, fishing industry and tourism is devastating due to the oil spill. The murder and mayhem, the loss of tourism, and the potential for drug smuggling and entrance of terrorists is devastating due to poor border security.

The solutions for the government are to make sure the oil leak is plugged and that border security is enforced. The government then must clean up the oil spill and deport illegal immigrants as quickly as possible. The current government and administration are resisting border security and immigration control while screaming about the oil spill and are blind to the correlation.
