Malwarebytes Anti-Malware V 1.46
Thoughts on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 1.46
At around 5½ Megs it is definitely on the low end in size of all the malware programs except for cloud based Prevx.
There are 2 versions of Malwarebytes Anti-malware or MBAM as fans like to refer to it. There is the free version that you have to run manual updates and scans with. But surprise, the freeware version will clean up anything it finds. You read it right, you do not have to buy the product to get rid of any nasty´s it finds. A big PLUS! The pay version costs about 25 bucks U.S. and adds real time protection, scheduled scans, scheduled updates and what they call a flash scan option to the quick scan and full scan options. A flash scan will analyse memory and auto run objects. Over all the interface is right down to the bones and can be understood by anyone with a brain.
By rummaging around in Google to tons of places that mention Malwarebytes I found that a lot of techies swear by the free version to find and clean up Malware on there clients computers. It found baddies Rogue.UnVirex in two different places in the registry on a friends box that his regular protection missed. This bad boy ROCKS!
The paid version will block bad web sites and scan any files that open in your box. There is a noticeable slow down with this module running but the slow down is no biggie and is not really in my opinion, a problem.
It is a great second line of defense. Update the free version and run a scan once a week or so and you should be right. The pay version and the free version seem to play nice with other security products also at least with Prevx Safe Online on one box and Panda Cloud on another which I use.
For it´s scanning ability to ferret out nasty´s especially rogue software and get rid of them to quarantine where you can leave, delete or recover them, I give it 8 out of ten. Nuff said, check it out here at Malwarewarebytes Anti Malware
