Ten states subsidize education unavailable to out-of-state American students. These states obviously discriminate against American citizens and favor illegal aliens. A loophole in the 1996 Immigration Act allows them to do this.
Representatives Brian Bilbray (R-CA) and Todd Tiahrt (R-KA) have introduced the Fairness for American Students Act, HR 4548, to end the discrimination. We encourage everyone to let there representatives know that you favor this legislation and would like to see it passed. This bill would remedy the situation, requiring such states to provide the same tuition break to all American students. It would also provide standing for students to sue to enforce the law. Hopefully by making it more expensive for these un-patriotic states, that favor illegal aliens above there legal citizens this law if passed could lead them to end their subsidy of illegal immigration.
The Brass Monkey Blog agrees with this proposed legislation because it almost seems un-constitutional that California and the other nine states could even get away with what they are doing in the first place. Hit them in the wallet and hit them hard!
