The CIA Torture Tapes: Give us a break

0

The bleeding heart Democrats in Washington are trying to make a big deal on the destroyed CIA tapes of interrogations that possibly showed water-boarding.

Give me a break folks. First off the CIA was under no obligation to make the tapes and as far as we can ascertain under no obligation to keep them.

One of the points made is that we do not want our people (if captured) to be tortured. Guess what folks al Qaeda is already using much more grotesque methods of torture then water-boarding. In fact one of the reasons that the Sunni leaders, disgusted by the atrocities they have witnessed, have teamed up with the Americans to defeat al Qaeda. It was Iraqi locals who pointed the U.S. patrol to the torture house in Muqdadiya.

In mid-December, U.S. forces in Iraq discovered an al Qaeda torture center north of Baghdad. Muqdadiya is about 60 miles north of the capital. American soldiers found a blood-spattered room where chains still hung on the gory walls. A metal bed frame was still connected to an electric shock generator. The Americans also found bloody knives and swords. Outside, the bodies of 26 people were buried in common graves. Anouther torture center was found in Bagdad itself this year.

A big problem with all this publicity that the Democrats are giving to the CIA tapes is that when folks in the middle east see and hear it on the news is that the word torture to them is associated with things that went on in the Muqdadiya torture house and others, not mere water boarding. This in itself might lead some to think that we are doing the same things as al Qaede.

The Brass Monkey thinks that congress (which has the lowest approval rating ever) should concentrate on things that the majority of the people want it to concentrate on like, the war itself, illegal immigration, outsourcing of American jobs and the disastrous free trade agreements like NAFTA that we have entered into.
