In my opinion being of Mexican descent and very proud of it I would never fly a flag of any other country. I am a citizen of the Untied States of America. When I pledge elegance to the flag it wasn’t the Mexican Flag. It was the American flag. The good old Red, White and Blue. I place my hand over my heart and pledged my elegance to the American Flag of the United States of America almost everyday before starting class at school. Back when the biggest problem we had at school was chewing gum in glass which was an offense punishable by death the way I remember it. lol They are wrong for flying any other flag over America higher than the American flag. Now with that in mind it doesn’t give anyone the right to act like an idiot and tear down any other flag. That is a matter for the authorities. To ignore other peoples rights because you feel your rights are being violated is just down right stupid. Yes I said it, stupid stupid stupid. That is what our constitution is base on, equal rights. That was an act of stupidity on his part and no common since. Now of course this is just my opinion and I may be wrong. God Bless America.

Okay first of all, to all you white people. No one is better then anyone, and your hearing that from a Hispanic. Second of all. Mexico has its ups and downs just like America. You people say that Mexico is dirty and what not. Well America isn’t that clean. How many of you have actually taken the time to look out into the street and acknowledge the WHITE homeless people. You don’t do you. And the Millionaires of today are only that because they inherited what they have. My husband’s grandfather is a millionaire but he actually worked hard everyday for what he has and he is in Guatemala. Millionaires can come from any place. Third of all. About you being the richest and most powerful country. It may be true but always take a look at the things you buy. Where do they come from? You should probably think about that before talking about any other country may it be Mexico or not. Fourth of all. You say we just work at fast food places and you work in laboratories. Have you not looked around? There are Hispanic doctors and what not. And we aren’t the ones opening fast food places like TACO BELL. Honestly that isn’t real Mexican food. If you all think you’re better then Mexicans why try to imitate our food? Just think about it. Fifth of all. Yeah you could deport us all illegal or not with that money but then tell me how the jobs would get done… I know for a fact that white people LOVE, that Hispanics are willing to work out in fields in the sun all day to support their families, and not have to lift a single finger. Hispanic is the same thing as mexican… look it up. Something else. . . . My parents tried hard to speak only English. They wanted to prepare me for my future in a nation and world in which English is the language of international business and politics. They also knew that America would provide opportunities and a foundation for a strong future. Being from eastern Europe, they experienced communism and post-communist racial struggles. They thought America would be different – not perfect, but better. Now, It is extremely disheartening to see racism from all sides. When I was a kid in grade school, I was a minority in a mostly hispanic school, but color was far from our minds – that is, until adults made sure we knew who was different by the time we were 12. Kids are great like that… pure until adults change them.

I am white and I grew up in South Phoenix and on East McClintock. Needless to say, those were economically poor areas. Most of my friends were hispanic and I never recall any of them calling themselves Mexican – or at least very often (my very first girlfriend in third grade was hispanic-name was Evette). They always called themselves American as I also did since I am a first generation American. Some of my friends went into the military and some to college and some did neither. What I remember most fondly is all of us believing in the promise of America – liberty, equality, self government, and the chance to do something to change our lives and be something more than our parents generation. I taught at a high school in Arizona for a year before I went to graduate school (first in my family to do so) and I remember most of the football coaching staff (I was a coach) being hispanic. I remember one coach who was born in a railroad car by migrant parents who came to America for work and a better life for their children. He played football as an undergrad and went to graduate school and his sister also. He and countless others love America – sure, it isn’t perfect, but it is pretty good and I and them certainly do not want it to become Aztlan or Mexico or anything else.
